I recently joined a Handmade Birthday Club on Instagram where we all make a gift for the person who’s birthday falls in a particular month. January’s birthday girl likes Swoon bag patterns and likes the colors granny smith apple and pink. So I decided to make her the “Ramona” bag by Swoon Sewing Patterns. Luckily, the pattern is offered free of charge on Swoon’s website and on Craftsy. I purchased my fabric locally from Cloth & Quilts in Turlock, CA. Continue reading to see what I thought about the pattern…
A slim hipster-style bag with an adjustable crossbody strap. A recessed zipper keeps your things secure and an oval-shaped bottom provides just enough room for it all. She’s a relatively fast sew and easily customizable. (Taken from Swoon’s website).
One size fits all
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes they were.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked that the instructions were thorough and easy to understand.
Quilting cotton. The pink fabric is a Kona cotton. The green fabric is Basically Patrick “Suds” in Grasshopper for RJR fabrics.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made the bag exactly as the pattern and instructions called for.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I will definitely be sewing this bag again and I do recommend it to others.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this bag. I did not have to spend hours trying to understand the directions or unpicking mistakes. It is a cute bag that is a good size to hold your wallet, cell phone, chapstick, and other important items.
